About Us

The Legon Club is an association of Senior Members and Staff of the University of Ghana and other duly admitted persons. The Club is registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the laws of the Republic of Ghana.
The Club was established with the primary objective of promoting its members' financial welfare and mutual support. To this end, members make regular contributions to a common fund managed by the Club’s regulations.

Dr. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour

Dr. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour holds a PhD in Economics from the School of Economics, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Ghana. Priscilla is affiliated with the Centre for Research in Economic Development and International Trade (CREDIT), University of Nottingham African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and a member of Women Economist Network. She has researched extensively on education and labour markets, gender, international trade and development economics and has collaborated in projects with international organizations including the Swizz Agency for Development and Cooperation, African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Brookings Institution and Africa Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET). She periodically contributes to national discourse on the Ghanaian economy and is currently a regular panelist on BBC Radio’s Business Matters programme. Priscilla is an avid advocate for diversification and inclusive growth policies in Africa.

Dr. Frank Agyire-Tettey

Dr. Frank Agyire-Tettey is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Ghana, Legon. His research interest is in Development Economics, and he has a wealth of experience in industrial research spanning over 15 years. His primary focus is exploring ways businesses can enhance their productivity levels. Over the years, he has managed and executed various projects and trainings for different companies and organizations across West Africa, contributing to these entities’ growth and success. He obtained his BSc and MPhil degrees in Economics from the University of Ghana and his PhD degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham in the UK. He has taught several courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in Ghana, the UK and China and consulted for several local and international organizations, including the Ministry of Finance, Oxford Policy Management, ACET, UNDP (Ghana), UNDP (New York), UNOPS, ICED, GDN, Open Society Initiative for West Africa, etc. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Constant Capital (an SEC-licensed investment Bank in Accra), providing strategic guidance.

Mrs. Naa Ahenei Adjei

Mrs. Naa Ahenei Adjei is a Principal Administrative Assistant at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies, under the School of Education and Leadership, College of Education. She holds BA in Social Work with Information Studies from 2010-2013 and MA in Information Studies from 2015-2016 all from the University of Ghana. She serves on various committees namely: A member of the Wear UG Day, A member of the College of Education Appointment Committee for Junior and Senior Staff, A member of the University Chaplaincy Board, and current a secretary to the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union of Ghana (TUC) Legon Branch. Naa Manye has 21 years of experience at the University.

Mr. Godwin Djokoto

Mr. Godwin Djokoto holds an LLB degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon and LL.M degree from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He is currently a Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law. Mr. Godwin Djokoto is an active private legal practitioner having been called to the Ghana Bar in 2003 and being a member of the World Jurist Association. His expertise covers Banking law, Maritime Law, Banking, Corporate Law, Land Law and Intellectual Property Law, among others. Hitherto, he worked at the Legal Advisory Section of the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague as an intern and was a member of the Legal and Technical Team which represented the Republic of Ghana.

Mr. Samuel Nkrumah

Mr. Samuel Nkrumah is a Professional Accountant with extensive experience in working within the higher education sector. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana. He also has professional memberships with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), UK and the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA), Ghana.

Mr. Karimu Gbene Suglo

Mr. Karimu Gbene Suglo. Mr. Suglo is a Senior Accountant at ISSER, College of Humanities, University of Ghana. He headed Cash Office of the University of Ghana from June 2017 to June 2022 and the Head of Accounts Section of University of Ghana, Accra City Campus from May 2012 to June 2017. He previously worked at Commonwealth Hall accounts Office for over ten (10) years before being transferred to University of Ghana Accra City Campus. Mr. Karimu Gbene Suglo is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana. He also holds BSc. Administration (Accounting option) and EMBA – Finance both from University of Ghana Business School. He is a member of University of Ghana Credit Union and served as Chairman of Supervisory Committee from November 2014 to October 2018 and Vice Chairman of the Management Board of University of Ghana Credit Union from November 2018 to October 2022. Mr. Suglo is a Board member of Community Development Alliance (CDA), an NGO based in Upper West Region.

Prof. Agyapomaa Gyeke – Dako

Prof. AGYAPOMAA GYEKE - DAKO With a strong academic background that includes an MSc and PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham (U.K.), Agyapomaa Gyeke-Dako, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Ghana Business School. Her research interests are in financial inclusion, economic growth, and international capital flows. She is an expert in fiscal policy, monetary policy, and the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME). She formerly worked as the Country Program Manager of the Bloomberg Media Initiative Africa, Financial Journalism Training Program, and as a Teaching Fellow at Durham Business School (UK). Her expertise in MSME development involves capacity-building for MSME leaders, facilitating partnerships between financial institutions and MSMEs, and conducting nationwide data collection on MSMEs. Throughout her career, she has taught graduate-level courses in macroeconomics and monetary economics, and has contributed to numerous projects funded by organizations like the IFC, Mastercard Foundation, and International Labour Organisation. She is a recipient of the DFID scholarship and is affiliated with the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP) and the Chinese Economic Association (CEA). She is also an ad hoc reviewer for several journals. She has published in reputable journals such as the Journal of Institutional Economics, Small Business Economics, Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Journal of Managerial Finance, African Finance Journal, Journal of African Business, Journal of Emerging Markets and many others.

Dr. Enock Dankyi

Enock Dankyi is an environmental chemist in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ghana. He is passionate about mentoring young scientists and is deeply committed to improving the well-being of others, which inspires his research in environmental management. Enock is an active member of several research and environmental management organizations, including the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), the Ghana National Man and Biosphere (MAB) Committee of UNESCO, the Ghana Chemical Society, and the American Chemical Society. He is also a Queen Elizabeth Advanced Scholar and a DANIDA fellow.

Dr. Mahmood Brobbey Oppong

Dr. Mahmood Brobbey Oppong is a Pharmacist, Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemist and a Senior Lecturer and Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department, University of Ghana School of Pharmacy (UGSOP). He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, Master of philosophy in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Doctor of Philosophy degree Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Oppong is a seasoned academic with a distinguished career spanning multiple roles, including Teaching Assistant and Graduate Assistant, Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, and Senior Lecturer. Beyond academia, Dr. Oppong is a successful entrepreneur. He is the CEO of Moodies Chemist Limited, based in Ashongman Estate, and also serves as the Director of Think Health Pharmacy, located in Adenta. Dr. Oppong is the founder of NatInspired Designs and Prints Ltd, a company dedicated to producing authentic, floral-themed fabrics and garments such as kaftans, suits, and ties. His goal is to inspire Ghanaians to embrace nature-inspired fashion and celebrate indigenous couture. In addition, he is actively involved in the Ghana Cooperative Pharmacists Credit Union Limited (GCPCUL), where he serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Committee, and is a member of its governing body. He is also an executive member of the UGSOP Welfare.

Dr. (Mrs.) Juliet Attah

Dr (Mrs.) Juliet Attah is a Senior Research Scientist at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission with knowledge in developing local materials for water purification. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Ghana, Legon, where she developed a strong foundation in scientific principles and research methodologies. She pursued Graduate studies, obtaining an MPhil degree in Environmental Sciences at the same University and then a PhD in Materials Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Her research is characterized by its interdisciplinary approach, combining techniques from Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Nuclear Sciences and Materials Engineering to solve environmental problems. She has published in reputable peer-reviewed journals. In addition to her research endeavors, she has occupied administrative positions and served on several technical committees in and outside the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. She is currently the Acting Manager for the Nuclear and Analytical Chemistry Research Centre. Beyond her achievements, she is keen in mentoring the next generation of scientists. She actively mentors graduate students, providing guidance and support as they pursue their scientific inquiries.

Dr. Godfred Bright Hagan

Dr. Godfred Bright Hagan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics, University of Ghana, Legon. He is passionate about teaching and nurturing strong character and moral rectitude hinged primarily on integrity in his students as future leaders. Dr. Hagan is thorough, efficient, respects governance processes and is deeply committed to institution building. He serves the University of Ghana (UG) community in various capacities. He served on the University’s Academic Board as one of the Convocation representatives from March 2021 to August 2024. He also served on the University Basic School Management Committee (Board) as a representative of the Academic Board from November 2023 to August 2024. He has served on various committees of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (ASA), the Dean of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and the Council and Tutorial Board of the Commonwealth Hall of the UG. Currently, he serves on the Loans Committee of the UG Co-operative Credit Union as the representative of UG-UTAG.
